Preparation in full swing!!

Fiji flights tick.... seems I'll be ringing in the quarter century in the beautiful Pacific.
Greyhound adventure tour to Alice Springs tick.... seems my wallet is getting the lighter by the moment.

With just 11 days left till the trip begins, maybe panic is setting in slightly. Even though I think I have just about everything I need and I know that anything I could possibly need I can get over there, I just can't help thinking I will leave something vital behind.

So these last few days are going to be set in a whirlwind of flurry as I flit from shop to shop getting anything from dental floss (rumour has it, great strength for a washing line) to head torches (more for late night reading than some sort of caving adventure!!); and saying my goodbyes to the any friends and family that are still left in this country.

Speaking of, I have to reflect on the fact, that since I have been back in Ireland and telling anyone who will listen about my big fancy plans for my trip to the other side of the world, every single person either has a relative or knows someone who is in Australia and you know what "they love it out there!".

So no big expectations then?

First Introductions

rain -12 °C

As I am leaving this fair land and heading to Oz, this seems like a good way to keep people up to date somewhat on my travels. However if my twitter account is anything to go by, this will be my one and only entry. But as the say... at least the intention is there.

So lets deal with the title first off. I cannot pin point where I heard the term 'quarter life crisis' but it has definitely resonated with me somewhat and I think is the best description of someone quitting a secure, well paid job in the middle of a recession to head half way across the world on a shoe string. If not now, then when?

As it is approaching 1am, and I have spent the evening searching in vain for cheap flights to Fiji from Brisbane I must bid you adieu. I have a popular orange backed book ( if you know the one I'm talking about, congratulations on joining the herd, if not congratulations on having a life) to finish before I am dragged to the cinema to endure Anne Hathaway's attempt at a Yorkshire accent.
